Phalaenopsis javanica sumatrana
New record in Sumatra
Today we make a note thats Orchids of Sumatra have new addition species, Phalaenopsis javanica.
The specimen already report found from Bengkulu and South Sumatra province. In Bengkulu we have record from Kepahiang regency, Central Bengkulu regency, and Nort Bengkulu regency, Bengkulu province at south west sumatra in range elevation c. 400 - 700 above sea level. The news also come south sumatra it is found from near Mount Dempo, Pagar Alam regency and Lintang Empat Lawang regency in South Sumatra province.

Phalaenopsis javanica sumatrana n. var.
Here by we publish prelimenary new variety, thats possible new variety or forma Phalaenopsis javanica J.J.Sm., 1918 from Sumatra mainland specimen. It is to be name as Phalaenopsis javanica sumatrana. The colour more atractive than type from west java. Sepals and petal white, marked with longitudinal stripes consisting of numerous small pink to purple spots giving the whole an attractive appearance., in other hand the typus from west java have white to greenish yellow, and brownish purple spot colour. The peduncle more longer. Still need more investigation, photo and measure the morphology in advantage.
